Die Ford Motor Company war beteiligt am Aufbau der deutschen Streitkräfte vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. 1938 wurde beispielsweise ein Fertigungswerk in Berlin in Betrieb genommen, dessen einzige Aufgabe es war, Lkw für die Wehrmacht herzustellen. Ford produzierte insgesamt 78.000 LKW und 14.000 Kettenfahrzeuge für die Wehrmacht. Vor dem Einmarsch der deutschen Wehrmacht ins Sudetenland, erhielt sie von Ford eine Eillieferung von 1.000 LKW. Die Ford-Werke wurden bis Ende 1944 von der alliierten Bombardierung ganz verschont und danach auch nur wenig beschädigt. In den Ford-Werken wurden auch Zwangsarbeiter eingesetzt, die man für vier Reichsmark pro Tag von der SS auslieh.
Im Juli 1938 wurde Henry Ford mit dem Großkreuz des Deutschen Adlerordens ausgezeichnet. Ford war der erste Amerikaner, dem diese Auszeichnung zuteil wurde. Sie war zu diesem Zeitpunkt die höchste Auszeichnung ehrenhalber, die Nazi-Deutschland an Ausländer vergab. Der Orden wurde vergeben „in Anerkennung der Pionierarbeit [Fords], um Autos für die Massen verfügbar zu machen“. Die Auszeichnung wurde begleitet von einer persönlichen Glückwunschnachricht Adolf Hitlers (Detroit News, 31. Juli 1938). Ford gab die Auszeichnung nie zurück.

The World State is built around the principles of Henry Ford, who has become a Messianic figure worshipped by society. The word Lord has been replaced with the similar-sounding Ford. The assembly line process is present in many aspects of life and the symbol "T" has replaced the Christian cross, a reflection of the Model T. Ford's famous phrase "History is bunk" has become The World State's approach to the past.
From birth, members of every class are indoctrinated, by recorded voices repeating slogans while they sleep (called "hypnopædia" in the book) to believe that their own class is best for them. Any residual unhappiness is resolved by an antidepressant and somewhat hallucinogenic drug called soma.
Contrary to what modern readers would expect, the biological techniques used to control the populace in Brave New World do not include genetic engineering. Huxley wrote the book in 1932, twenty years before Watson and Crick discovered the structure of DNA. As the science writer Matt Ridley put it, Brave New World describes an "environmental not a genetic hell." Human embryos and fetuses are conditioned via a carefully designed regimen of chemical (such as exposure to hormones and toxins), thermal (exposure to intense heat or cold, as one's future career would dictate) and other environmental stimuli..
It has been discussed by several literary critics and backed up by Aldous Huxley, that the book, while satirizing the development of society, also provides a suicidal outlook on the future. In the novel, the reservation (which is associated with the past and all the squalor and disease in it) and the futuristic society come together in the protagonist John. In a metaphorical sense, this coming together could represent the present, as John is neither fully part of the past or future societies. At the end of the novel John commits suicide out of remorse but it can also be inferred that he commits suicide because there is nowhere left for him to go. All he has is the disease-ridden past or the conformist future.
In other themes, the book attacks assembly line production as demeaning, the liberalisation of sexual morals as being an affront to love and family, the use of slogans or thought-terminating clichés, the concept of a centralised government and the use of science to control people's thoughts and actions. Indeed, the use of modern science, technology and pharmacy to replace violence in keeping people chained in pleasurable (and thus unperceived) servitude was the main point of the book. While Huxley attacks the emergence of socialist and communist attitudes, he also opposes capitalist consumer society. Indeed, the latter motifs are stronger than the former: in the novel, the legendary founder of the society was Henry Ford, whose writings occupy Mustapha Mond's bookshelves. The letter T (a reference to the Ford Model T) has replaced the cross as a quasi-religious symbol.
The American Jewish Historical Society describes the ideas presented in the magazine as "anti-immigrant, anti-labor, anti-liquor, and anti-Semitic". In February 1921, the New York World published an interview with Ford, in which he said "The only statement I care to make about the Protocols is that they fit in with what is going on". During this period Ford emerged as "a respected spokesman for right-wing extremism and religious prejudice," reaching around 700,000 readers through his newspaper. [10]
Along with the Protocols, anti-Jewish articles published by The Dearborn Independent were also released in the early 1920s as a set of four bound volumes, cumulatively titled The International Jew, the World's Foremost Problem. Vincent Curcio writes of these publications that "they were widely distributed and had great influence, particularly in Nazi Germany, where no less a personage than Adolph Hitler read and admired them. Hitler hung Ford's picture on the wall, and based several sections of Mein Kampf on his writings: indeed, Ford is the only American mentioned in Hitler's book. It can probably be said, as Lacey does, that no American contributed as much to the evils of Nazism as Henry Ford."[11] Steven Watts writes that
Hitler "revered" Ford, proclaiming that "I shall do my best to put his theories into practice in Germany," and modelling the Volkswagen, the people's car, on the model T." [12] In Mein Kampf (written in the mid-1920s) Hitler expressed the opinion that, "It is Jews who govern the stock exchange forces of the American Union. Every year makes them more and more the controlling masters of the producers in a nation of one hundred and twenty millions; only a single great man, Ford, to their fury, still maintains full independence."[13]
